DR. nicolas D. Brunet

Assistant Professor
(Latornell Professor in Environmental Stewardship)

I am an Assistant Professor in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development at the University of Guelph, where I hold the Latornell Professorship in Environmental Stewardship.  I grew up outside of Montreal spending my summers sailing and camping and winters cross country skiing. I now have three children who all enjoy being outdoors and connecting with the natural world around them. I live in Cambridge, Ontario.

I have an active research program in the community-based conservation field coupled with large scale social-ecological mixed method studies at international and national scales. My research primarily focuses upon natural resource governance and the tools, such as Indigenous community based monitoring and community science, used to measure the impacts of resource extraction, such as mining, in boreal and Arctic terrestrial ecosystems.
