Archi Patel (GRADUATED)

MPLAN in RPD

Archi’s research interests lie within the role rural areas play in the development of cities. What are the interlinkages between urban and rural areas? From this dependency index, she believes we can improve policy and future planning of infrastructure in the rural areas.

Archi has worked on a project entitled “Re-visiting Passenger Transport in Metropolitan Cities of India: How far do people commute?” In this position,  she was assigned the task of identifying the extent of economic shadows within metropolitan cities in India. Using GIS, this was undertaken by analyzing the distribution of the scatter of urban settlements; identifying the urban nodes that lay between urban towns and parent metropolitan cities; and map the availability of railway infrastructure.
